3. If an employee selects multiple races and does not select Hispanic/Latino, enter W for 'Two or More Races' (e.g., enter W for a selection of both Black and White).

4. If an employee selects Hispanic/Latino, enter 4 regardless of whether additional races are selected (e.g., enter 4 for a selection of both Hispanic/Latino and Black).

5. If multiple ethnicities within Asian are selected and no other race is selected, enter 2 (e.g., employee selects both Chinese and Korean).

6. If multiple ethnicities within 'Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander' are selected and no other race is selected, enter 6 (e.g., employee selects both Samoan and Hawaiian).

More Info:

  1. Effective July 1, 2010, new requirements regarding the collection and reporting of ethnicity were implemented.  The detail codes within 'Hispanic/Latino' and 'American Indian or Alaska Native' were collapsed and the category of 'Two or More Races' was introduced.  Refer to HR/EHDB 2010-01 for additional information.

  2. The chart in effect prior to July 1, 2010 can be accessed via the following link: Item 445 - Historical Ethnic Origin.
