Item 105 - Interim Numbers for SSN

Interim numbers are a set of numbers that begin with 00003 and end with numbers in the 8000 series (e.g., 000038001). The interim numbers are assigned in the order received. They are logged into the interim number log with the next available number, employee name, birthday and the initials of the auditor assigned the interim number. When the interim number is assigned, the campus is notified via telephone. The campus is to use the interim number until the employee receives his or her official SSN from the Social Security Administration. The campus should then process a 105 transaction to correct the employee SSN. This applies to all employees, including student assistants.
