Item 335 - Alternate Salary Range

This numeric code identifies alternate ranges of salaries within a class, when the class has more than one range. Refer to the CSU Salary Schedule for alternate range codes.

 

Coding:

1-8 or blank

Example:

Class 0450 = Operations Specialist - 12

  • Range Code 1 = Foundation

  • Range Code 2 = Career

  • Range Code 3 = Expert

Class 7737 = Physician

  • Range Code 1 = Pay Plan A (12/12)

  • Range Code 2 = Pay Play B (10/10)

  • Range Code 6 = Pay Plan E (11/12)

  • Range Code 8 = Pay Plan C (10/12)

If class code equals 1869, 3300, 3306, 3312 or 3318, alternate range must be present or entered.

Instructions:

  1. The code entered must agree with the range code in the CSU Salary Schedule.

  2. Leave this field blank if the class does not have an alternate range, or if the appointment is to an assigned salary rate class.

  3. Do not enter '0' for this data element.

  4. When an employee is changing from an alternate range class to an assigned salary rate class or to a class with no alternate ranges, existing entries in this field must be deleted with an asterisk (*).

More Info:

  1. Range codes 6 and 7 for nonacademic classes are reserved for 11/12 pay plan ranges.

  2. Range codes 8 and 9 for nonacademic classes are reserved for 10/12 pay plan ranges.

  3. Range code 0 is referred to as a 'title' or 'header' record. If a class has alternate ranges, no method of compensation is associated with the header.
