The San Joaquin Valley region is composed of 13 counties: San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Kern, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Mono, Mariposa and Inyo. There are three CSU campuses in the region: Fresno State, CSU Bakersfield and CSU Stanislaus. Together, the three campuses had a direct spend of over $1.8 billion in 2023-24.

Regional impact: CSU campuses in the San Joaquin Valley region generated a substantial economic impact across the region, supporting a total of 25,300 jobs and contributing $996 million in labor income, $2.6 billion in industry activity and $212 million in tax revenues, underscoring the campuses’ vital role in regional economic vitality.

When San Joaquin Valley region CSU alumni spend their incremental earnings in the statewide economy an estimated 49,500 jobs, $3.6 billion in labor income, $10.5 billion in industry activity and a remarkable $821 million in tax revenue is created each year.
