REGIONAL BENEFITS

The impact of the CSU on California's economy is impressive, but the benefits are equally remarkable at the regional level. With 22 universities located across the length and breadth of the state, the culture and economy of counties and communities always benefit from the presence of a CSU campus. Direct spending—investment in capital, operations and auxiliary expenditures, as well as the purchase of goods and services—represents a significant portion of the CSU's economic impact on a region. But the full impact is more nuanced, as the economic activity in any sector generates increased activities throughout the economy.
