Professor Jefferies teaches critical approaches to education by taking groups of students on service-learning experiences to Latin American countries. First-generation, Latinx students apply course concepts to their interactions with the community-based organizations. Through these experiences they gain greater self-awareness, increase their sense of belonging to the campus and gain insight into needs of diverse communities.
