Expository and Reading and Writing Course has demonstrated significant gains in students' E/LA proficiency through a rigorous program of teacher professional development and a curriculum based on modules that develop students' skills in analytic reasoning, reading comprehension, and expository writing.
Four years ago, the CSU received a $3 million federal Investing in Innovation grant; in 2016, the CSU and the Fresno County Office of Education together received a
$12 million grant to expand the program and further develop and examine evidence of program impact.
In mathematics, CSU has offered
Strengthening Mathematics Instruction to prepare teachers for advancing students' math proficiency and college readiness. Building on this experience, in 2016, CSU campuses received more than
$5 million in state grants and a federal
$3 million Investing in Innovation grant to advance math proficiency through rigorous teacher professional development and curriculum for a fourth year of high school math to be offered in the 12th grade.
