FDC Vision & Mission

Vision: The CSU is a national leader in equitable and excellent teaching and learning.

Mission: To support, connect and amplify the work of CSU faculty developers and the 26,000 faculty we serve in order to maximize student success in alignment with system and campus priorities.

Faculty developers are stakeholders who facilitate the professional development of faculty with the goal of increasing success for students and faculty alike. Our constituents include all faculty (tenure-track, lecturers, future faculty), campus leadership, system-level administrators, and the Board of Trustees.

To ensure that all CSU faculty have access to the best possible CSU-specific faculty development opportunities we:

  • Support campus implementation of inclusive/equity-minded, evidence-based teaching
  • Grow and expand the collective expertise of faculty developers
  • Disseminate evidence-based teaching and mentoring practices
  • Model and facilitate expert adult learning
  • Establish robust centers on all campuses

We work with faculty, faculty developers and administrators on the following:

  • CSU Teaching and Learning Symposium
  • Programming for faculty developers
  • Onboarding events
  • Assessment
  • Advocacy and communications
  • Evidence-based practices repository
  • National level educational development (e.g., POD)
  • Cross-campus faculty development collaborations
  • Partnership with Institute for Teaching & Learning
  • Partnerships with system-wide stakeholders
  • Joint research/scholarly projects
  • Joint statements on policies and initiatives
