Trustee Emeritus Ralph Pesqueira is president of El Indio Shops, Inc. a family business founded as a tortilla factory in 1940 and credited with the invention of the taquito during World War II. Today, El Indio is well known around the world and has generously supported military troops by sending "El Indio Care Packages" into war zones.

Pesqueira is an alumnus of San Diego State University and currently serves on the CSU Foundation Board of Governors. He served as a member of the CSU Board of Trustees from 1988 to 2004, and has represented the CSU on the California Postsecondary Education Commission.
