On February 3, 2023, the California State University (CSU) met with the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) to begin negotiations over salary and benefits for the 2023-24 fiscal year. At tha​t meeting, CSUEU made a proposal for a salary step structure.​

CSU Trustees Ratify Tentative Agreement​​s with Labor Unions
The California State University Board of Trustees today voted to ratify tentative agreements on successor agreements with the Academic Professionals of California (APC), the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU), the Statewide University Police Association (SUPA) and Teamsters Local 2010.​

CSU and CFA Ratify Successor Contract
​The California Faculty Association’s (CFA) union membership has voted to approve ratification of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). This follows similar action by members of the Board of Trustees who voted unanimously to ratify the contract at the January board meeting held last week. The new CBA will go into effect immediately and will be valid through June 30, 2024.

CSU and CFA Reach Tentative Agreement On Successor Contract

The​ California State University (CSU) and the California Faculty Association (CFA) have reached a tentative agreement on a successor contract. The agreement covers the 29,000 instructional faculty, coaches, librarians and counselors across the 23 CSU campuses and​, upon ratification by the CSU Board of Trustees and CFA membership, will run through June 30, 2024. The tentative agreement will be brought to the CSU Board of Trustees for approval at the upcoming meeting taking place January 25-26, 2022.

CSU and CSUEU Partner on Comprehensive Salary S​tudy

The California State University (CSU), the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) and Teamsters Local 2010​ are pleased to announce the awarding of a contract to Mercer Consulting on October 25, 2021, for a comprehensive salary study. The contract is the result of a joint effort by CSU and CSUEU in successfully securing funding in the 2021 State Budget ​(Sena​te Bill 129) for an independent evaluation of the salary structure of non-faculty staff.​​​

PERB Determines Parties Are At Impasse, Mediator To Be Appointed Soon

On October 5, the California P​ublic Employment Relations Board (PERB) determined that an impasse does exist in negotiations between the California State University (CSU) and the California Faculty Association (CFA) over the terms and conditions of a successor contract. Under state law, the next step in the dispute-resolution process will be the appointment of a mediator by the California State Mediation & Conciliation Service to assist in the discussions. ​

CSU Wants To Continue Negotiating But CFA Requests PERB To Determine Parties Have Reached Impasse
After the September 30 bargaining session, the California Faculty Association (CFA) notified the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) that its negotiators believe they have reached an impasse with California State University’s (CSU) negotiators over the terms and conditions of a successor contract. The CSU intends to inform PERB that there is room for both sides to find areas of agreement and that the parties are not at impasse.

CSU and California Faculty Association (CFA) Bargaining Reach Tentative Agreement On 20 Articles; Further Negotiations Scheduled
​On August 24 and 27, CSU and CFA (Unit 3) representatives met to continue their negotiations over a successor agreement. The parties have now met 16 times since October 2020. As a reminder, CSU’s contract with CFA expired on June 30, 2021, but has been extended twice by mutual agreement through September 30.

C​ommunique: Update on CSU and California Faculty Association (CFA) Bargaining
On​ July 27 and 30, the California State University (CSU) and the California Faculty Association (CFA - Unit 3) representatives met to continue their negotiations over a successor agreement. While the collective bargaining agreement was set to expire on June 30, the parties mutually agreed to extend it until August 30, 2021. These sessions were the first to occur since enactment of the final State Budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22.

Bargaining Update
Updates as of February 10, 2020: Factfinding took place with SUPA, and parties have agreed to extend the SUPA contract. There have been four sessions of bargaining with the Teamsters, and both parties passed initial proposals. The CSU sunshined proposals on January 28 with CSUEU and CFA.
