Chancellor García served as a panelist at the U.S. Conference of Mayors annual convening on June 5, 2026, alongside UC Irvine Chancellor Howard Gillman.

Chancellor García was the keynote speaker at Fresno State’s 50th annual Chicano/Latino Commencement Celebration on May 16, 2026 – one of the nation’s most spirited graduation events.

Chancellor García joined a delegation of CSU trustees in Sacramento on May 13, 2026, for Trustee Advocacy Day. Trustees met with state legislators throughout the day to request continued support for the CSU.

On April 24, 2026, Chancellor García served as a panelist with state higher education leaders at the Central Valley Higher Education Summit in Fresno.

During California Ag Day on April 21, 2026, Chancellor García stopped by the State Capitol to visit CSU campus booths, including Cal Poly, Cal Poly Pomona, Fresno State and Chico State.

On April 21, 2026, Chancellor García joined a virtual panel to discuss the future of public higher education in the state, hosted by the California Coalition for Public Higher Education.

Chancellor García and a delegation of CSU students and leaders visited Washington, D.C. for CSU Hill Week April 13 – 17, 2026 to advocate for federal support for programs critical to student success.

Chancellor García joined state higher education leaders on April 9, 2026 for a panel hosted by the Public Policy Institute of California to discuss key issues facing the Golden State.

On April 8, 2026, Chancellor García met with a group of California lawmakers as part of the CSU Legislators Delegation convening in Sacramento. Several of these legislators are CSU alumni.

In March 2026, Chancellor García served as a panelist at the Business-Higher Education Forum’s spring convening to discuss how the CSU is aligning AI adoption and training with workforce needs.

Chancellor García joined CSU presidents, leaders and advocates to meet with California state legislators in Sacramento for CSU Advocacy Day on February 25, 2026.

At the close of the 2026 Social Mobility Symposium, Chancellor García joined Cal State San Marcos President Ellen Neufeldt and CSU Trustee Wenda Fong to announce the launch of the CSU National Center for Social Mobility at CSUSM.

California’s three public higher education system heads—CCC Chancellor Sonya Christian, CSU Chancellor Mildred García and UC President James Milliken—united on February 17 to testify before the State Assembly regarding budget needs and priorities.

Chancellor García joined state leaders at a TELACU gala in January 2026 to celebrate California Senate President pro Tempore Monique Limón—the first Latina in that role.

On October 15-16, 2025, Chancellor García gathered with CSU leadership—including 14 university presidents—to celebrate the culmination of Graduation Initiative 2025.

Chancellor García joined CSU leaders and the Stanislaus State community on October 3, 2025, for the investiture ceremony of President Britt Rio-Ellis, the university’s 13th president.

Chancellor García toured the Cal Poly Pomona campus in September 2025, visiting the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center and catching up with the talented Cal Poly Rose Float team to see their progress on this year’s design.

At the Postsecondary Value Symposium hosted by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in September 2025, Chancellor García joined AASCU President Chuck Welch for a fireside chat.

Chancellor García joined Trustee Julia Lopez, Vice Chair Diego Arambula and ETS CEO Amit Sevak for a photo to commemorate the September launch of the Futurenav Compass career navigation platform for CSU students.

Chancellor García attended the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Awards Gala on September 18, 2025, along with other CSU leaders, to celebrate champions of Latino culture.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Chancellor García joined the TIAA Institute’s Surya Kolluri (far left) for a fireside chat on September 16, 2025, as this year’s Hesburgh Award recipient.

Chancellor García met with former CSU Trustee and now U.S. Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA 12-D) in September 2025. Rep. Simon represents California's 12th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

On September 9, 2025, Chancellor García recognized 23 students with the 2025 Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement for their academic excellence and resilience.

Chancellor García joined the Cal State LA community on August 18, 2025, for their two-for-one ceremony that combined President Berenecea Johnson Eanes' investiture and the university’s convocation.

On August 7, 2025, Chancellor García joined Gov. Newsom and other education and AI-industry leaders to sign an MOU with top GenAI firms, launching a partnership to train Californians for careers in AI.

On July 17, 2025, Chancellor García attended a ceremony to celebrate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between SDSU and the San Diego Community College District guaranteeing admission to SDSU for eligible transfer students.

Chancellor García attended San Francisco State's 2025 commencement ceremony on May 23, celebrating with outgoing Cal State Student Association President Iese Esera who graduated from the university that day.

On May 14, 2025, Chancellor García visited Sacramento to meet with Assemblymember Darshana Patel, as well as other state legislators, to discuss stopping budget cuts to the CSU and supporting higher education.

Chancellor García and fellow members of the Sonoma State Presidential Search Committee toured the campus and held an Open Forum for the campus community to voice their priorities for the next SSU president on May 5, 2025.

On April 23, 2025, Chancellor García joined over 200 other leaders in education and spoke on a panel at the 2025 ETS Convening, which focused on measuring future readiness and preparing students for their careers.

As Hill Week came to a close, Chancellor García, CSU leaders and students, hill staff and members of Congress celebrated their advocacy efforts during the CSU Congressional Reception on April 10, 2025.

From April 8-10, 2025, Chancellor García visited Washington for CSU Hill Week during which she and a delegation of CSU leaders, students and alumni met with legislators to advocate for the needs of college students and communicate the CSU's top federal priorities.

As part of CSU Hill Week events in Washington April 8-10, Chancellor García and CSU leaders met with U.S. Senators and CSU supporters Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff to discuss the federal landscape with regard to higher education.

Chancellor García met with California Governor Gavin Newsom in March 2025 in Sacramento to discuss their shared commitment to the CSU, its 460,000 students and how the CSU fuels California's workforce.

Chancellor García and CSU presidents, leaders and advocates met with California state legislators in Sacramento for Advocacy Day on March 18-19, 2025, to advocate on behalf of the university.

Alongside other speakers, Chancellor García hailed the CSU as “a strong and stabilizing force for good” during her address at the 2025 National Social Mobility Symposium hosted by CSU San Marcos February 20-21, 2025.

In Washington, D.C. on February 11, 2025, Chancellor García spent the day meeting with congressional leaders, including Representative Judy Chu, to discuss the importance of federal investments to support students in California public higher education.

Chancellor García attended a press conference at San José State announcing a first-of-its-kind initiative to leverage AI in higher education along with SJSU President Cynthia Teniente-Matson, CSU CIO Ed Clark and others on February 4, 2025.

On January 14-15, Chancellor García met with CSU alumni recently elected to the state legislature who are shaping California's future through their leadership, including CSU Dominguez Hills alumnus José Luis Solache, Jr.

At an “Advancing Economic Mobility” convening on December 15, 2024, Chancellor García gave an interview for the Aspen Institute’s Women Trailblazers series coming out in March 2025.

Chancellor García served as a plenary speaker at the 2024 AASCU Annual Conference for Presidents and Chancellors, held in Puerto Rico November 16-19, 2024.

To coordinate on supporting transfer students, Chancellor García joined CCC Chancellor Sonya Christian and UC President Michael Drake at the inaugural Strategic Transfer Summit held at UC Merced on November 8, 2024.

“Building for Equity” was the theme of the CSU’s 2024 Graduation Initiative Symposium held in Los Angeles October 28-30, at which Chancellor García participated.

Chancellor García joined President Biden and others at the White House on October 29, 2024, for the ceremonial signing of an executive order that will strengthen the capacity of Hispanic-Serving Institutions to provide a high-quality education.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Chancellor García and HHS Assistant Secretary for Administration Cheryl R. Campbell signed an MOU on October 22, 2024, to collaborate on channeling students to work in federal health roles.

At Cal Poly Humboldt for the presidential search open forum on October 10, 2024, Chancellor García visited with students and alumni including Dakota (left) and José Juan (right).

At CSU Bakersfield's inaugural Chavez Huerta Leadership Conference on October 3, 2024, Chancellor García was honored with a Trailblazer Award. García is the first Latina to lead any four-year university system in the nation.

Chancellor García lauded Cal State LA alumna Billie Jean King during a ceremony to unveil a statue on the campus in King’s honor held on October 2, 2024, calling her “a true hero, a champion and forever a Golden Eagle.”

In India for a conference on international education (IC3) August 28-29, 2024, Chancellor García met with U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti to discuss expanding opportunities for students.

On April 30, 2024, Chancellor García met with Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh in Sacramento to discuss CSU’s priorities and how each of the 23 universities can support the state’s workforce.

Chancellor García attended a CSU Alumni and Congressional Community event in Washington, D.C. April 10, 2024, with about 300 CSU alumni and leaders and congressional members.

While in Washington, D.C. for CSU Hill Day, Chancellor García attended a lunch April 10, 2024, with members of the California congressional delegation.

As part of CSU Hill Day events, university leaders met with federal legislators including U.S. Representative Ted Lieu April 9-11, 2024, to seek more support for college students.

In a special livestreamed event at CSU Channel Islands April 2, 2024, Chancellor García and Board of Trustees Chair Wenda Fong shared their leadership journeys with students.

The California Legislative Women’s Caucus honored Chancellor García as a HERstory Maker during Women’s History Month commemorations on the Assembly and Senate floors March 12, 2024.
