Douglas Faigin has been president of City News Service, Inc., the nation's largest regional wire service, since 1985. CNS (www.socalnews.com) subscribers include more than 150 of the nation's biggest media companies, including all the national networks and major TV stations, newspapers and news radio stations in Southern California. CNS is the only news organization operating 24 hours a day with reporters at all major news centers in the region.

Faigin was a radio station owner and operator and prior to that worked with Jerry Brown in campaigns and state government. Faigin was Brown's press secretary in the 1974 gubernatorial campaign and deputy campaign manager in Brown's 1978 reelection campaign. He worked for the governor's office and in other positions in state government. Faigin was a newspaper and broadcast reporter and editor before that, and he is a former president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Faigin earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in political science from Claremont Graduate University, Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and bachelor degree in philosophy from UCLA.
