Jose Godinez
I will give my life to the service of society and serve those who invested in me.

José Godínez was raised in a typical, lower middle-class Mexican family in Jalisco, Mexico. During the economic crises that began in Mexico in the mid-1990s, José's father lost his job and his mother was forced to work to support their household. José's family struggled for several years, yet always strived for a better future despite harsh working conditions.

José's family moved to the United States in 2010 and struggled to learn English. Thanks to the support of his parents and mentors, José currently attends California State University, Stanislaus and is working towards a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He serves as the treasurer for a student organization called Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. José plans to attend graduate school and serve the community through teaching and research at the university level.
