William Randolph Hearst Scholar

I hope to continue building communal spaces of love, care, healing and dreaming.

In 2021, Manmit Singh graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s in comparative ethnic studies and minors in women’s, gender and queer studies. They then enrolled in a master’s program in ethnic studies at San Francisco State and were named the 2021-22 California Pre-Doctoral Program Scholar.

Manmit successfully organized under Dalit feminist leadership to help add caste as a protected category within the CSU and received the 2022 CSU Advocate of the Year award from the California State Student Association.

They plan to continue community organizing work while pursuing a Ph.D. in ethnic studies, American studies or feminist studies.
