Ron and Mitzi Barhorst Scholar

I am most proud that I always remember where I come from, who I am and how fortunate I have been.

Bipulanda Sraman was born in Bangladesh into a family that struggled to provide him with basic needs. At the age of eight, his parents, both illiterate, made the difficult decision to send him to residential instruction where he would receive an education. A Buddhist monk since he was a child, Bipulanda relied on donations, but they were unpredictable.

Bipulanda's education endeavors led him to California, where he attended an adult school and then studied at Moreno Valley College before transferring to Cal State San Bernardino. He is an information systems technology major pursuing a degree in cybersecurity with a 3.87 GPA and has been on the dean's list.

Bipulanda serves his local communities, providing spiritual guidance and conducting meditation classes. He uses his trilingual skills to assist senior citizens and non-English speakers by accompanying them to medical appointments and helping them obtain required legal documentation.

After graduation, Bipulanda intends to pursue a master's degree in cybersecurity that will help him to earn a living providing protection for people and businesses from growing cyber threats.
