I strive to be someone who can listen, counsel, mentor and motivate others to improve their psychological well-being

Erika Baron has persevered through an adverse childhood comprised of several challenges including poverty, domestic violence and a parent with substance abuse issues. Raised by a single mother, Erika took over the role of second parent to her youngest sibling.

Fortunately, Erika's love of reading acted as a coping mechanism in her volatile environment. Early on, she knew the way to a better future was through higher education, so she worked hard to overcome these obstacles to attend CSUN and major in psychology.

A proud first-generation Mexican American, Erika is now a full-time employee and graduate student at CSUN, where she enjoys serving the diverse student community.

After receiving her master's in social work, Erika hopes to continue her education and earn a doctorate in psychology. She will use her degree and clinical experience to support underserved communities and individuals who experience trauma, grief and loss in their journey to healing.
