Ron and Mitzi Barhorst Scholar

I work to inspire other Latinx students to pursue their goals by sharing my own experiences.

Jeisson Pulido Calderon is a senior majoring in physics at CSU Dominguez Hills. In addition to excelling in the classroom and serving as a peer tutor for his fellow CSUDH students, Jeisson has participated in summer internships for the Center for Astrophysics: Harvard-Smithsonian and the Observatory De La Côte D'azur in Nice, France. A first-generation Latinx student from Colombia, Jeisson is a Cal-Bridge Scholar, advanced peer tutor, president of the CSUDH Physics Club and a California Bridge-Electron-Ion Collider (CB-EIC) scholar at UCLA, researching nuclear physics as part of the Kang Research Group.

Jeisson plans to pursue a Ph.D. in high-energy astrophysics and a career in the aerospace industry. He hopes to inspire underrepresented students to pursue a career in a STEM field.
