The skills I’ve gained through research have vastly increased my self-confidence.

Yesenia Aurora Mora is pursuing a master’s degree in biology at CSU San Marcos. Her primary research area centers on avian behavioral ecology.

Aside from her rigorous research and coursework commitments, Yesenia actively contributes to the educational landscape by helping teach science classes at CSUSM. She hopes to inspire future generations to embrace STEM disciplines and pursue college degrees in these fields.

Yesenia recently presented her undergraduate research at the American Ornithological Society’s 2022 Ornithological Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her efforts earned her the esteemed Nellie Johnson Baroody Award, given for the best student oral presentation.

Yesenia aspires to pursue a doctorate in behavioral ecology.
