I want to be the change in the educational system that helps bring equity to our children.

​Felisa Patiño-Longoria is a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership Program at CSU Bakersfield. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Latin American studies from CSUB and was recognized as the outstanding master’s student in the Bilingual Multicultural Education Program. 

In her dissertation, the culmination of her life’s work, Felisa will research folklórico, Mexican folk dance. 

A specialist in the STEAM Academy at Bakersfield City School District, Felisa creates curriculum for the Extended Learning Program and teaches folklórico to bolster students’ cultural performing arts education. 

​​Felisa hopes to continue in education and become a professor of ethnic studies or the history of folklórico.
