I believe in the power of restorative justice and hope to implement these practices in my work once I graduate.

Following the murder of George Floyd and the resulting Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, Elizabeth Strong enrolled in graduate school to better understand and address systemic inequities, mass incarceration and police violence. She is pursuing master’s degrees in visual anthropology and political science at San Francisco State.

Elizabeth has volunteered as a documentary filmmaker and photographer with organizations dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities including the unhoused, at-risk youth and low-income seniors. She has also worked as a producer for media organizations that give voice to the voiceless.

As a social scientist and documentarian, Elizabeth hopes to defend and empower oppressed and marginalized communities through research, advocacy and art.
