We aren’t defined by what happens to us, but how we deal with it.

Andres Felix Romero is studying communication at Cal Poly Humboldt.

In high school, he delved into his family history by conducting interviews and gathering information. Through that experience, he discovered his passion for journalism. Andres has honed his reporting skills while covering a range of stories at The Lumberjack, Cal Poly Humboldt’s student-run newspaper.

He has volunteered at Rocket Dog Rescue and a Bay Area farm that provides organic and affordable fruits and vegetables for the local community. He also helped produce a podcast with the Richmond Progressive Alliance in which he interviewed Richmond residents about pollution and health complications associated with a local refinery.

Through storytelling, Andres hopes to continue amplifying the voices of historically marginalized communities.
