Do I have to pay a $70 application fee to have my application redirected?

No, you do not need to pay another application fee to have your application redirected.

Why am I being asked if I would like my application redirected?

You applied to campuses, or applied to programs at a CSU campus, that were impacted and you were not accepted, due to limited capacity.

To which campuses can I have my application redirected?

There are several non-impacted campuses that will accept your redirected application. Campuses are listed above.

Can I change my mind about the campuses I chose to have my application redirected to?

No. Once you choose your first- and second-choice campuses you cannot change your choices.

I’m interested. Where and how do I select my first- and second choice campuses?

  1. Review the available CSU options on Redirection.
  2. Log in to your Cal State Apply account.
  3. Navigate to the third quadrant called Supporting Information, then select Fall Redirection.
  4. Enter your responses.
  5. Save the page. Once you click save, all responses are final.

I’m not interested, do I have to notify the CSU?

Yes, please login to your Cal State Apply account and follow steps listed above. Respond "No" in step four and click save.

By when do I have to decide?

To ensure your application is redirected to your first-choice campus, provide your choices in Cal State Apply as soon as possible.

What happens after I choose my first- and second-choice campuses?

After you select your first- and second-choice campuses, the CSU Office of the Chancellor will redirect your application to a CSU campus. You will receive an email when this happens. Once the campus receives your application, they will contact you via email within 5-7 business days with instructions on what to do next.

If I agree to redirection and later decide it is not for me, are there penalties for canceling or not accepting admission at a redirected campus?

No, there are no penalties. When the redirection campus offers admission, you can decide simply not to accept the offer.

What if I applied to a highly impacted major and the major is impacted at the campus to which I choose to be redirected?

Your application will be redirected to the campus you selected and a closely related major or an undeclared major will be assigned. You can work directly with your campus to learn more about their available majors.
