Kelly O'Bannon, MA

Outstanding Lecturer Award, 2021
Bakersfield
Department of Communication

I respect and cherish the uniqueness we all bring as communicators. I work to share my passion with students in hopes that they can move throughout their lives as confident and dynamic speakers.

Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Since joining the CSUB faculty in 2001, Kelly O'Bannon has worked toward improving oral communication skills at CSUB. Her dedication and passion to teaching has led to an interactive classroom where students can gain confidence and effective skills as public speakers. She supports the general education program serving as the current GE Grant Director and the Learning Community Facilitator for Oral Communication, where she assists faculty across disciplines in their pursuits to reinforce oral communication.

She also provides community outreach to local high schools and organizations in their efforts to create effective public speakers through various trainings, workshops, and presentations.
