The Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP)

The goal of the California State University Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program (CDIP) is to increase the number of faculty with the qualifications, motivation, and skills needed to teach the diverse students of the CSU.

CDIP prepares promising doctoral students for CSU faculty positions by providing financial support, mentorship by CSU faculty and professional development and grant resources. It is the largest program of its kind in the U.S.

The Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program application is now closed for the 2023-2024 academic year. For the 2024- 2025 academic year, take the first step and contact a CSU Campus Coordinator to discuss your academic goals. ​​A​​​​pplication Review Timeline:

  • CDIP Systemwide Selection Committee will review campus nominations in early May 2023.
  • Announcements of 23/24 CIDP Cohort will be made end of June. Fellows will receive communication via email and a list of selected fellows will be posted on the CDIP Website.​

Directory of Recipients

CDIP Fellows who have graduated or who are about to graduate should submit their information to be included in the annual CDIP Directory. The directory is intended to assist CSU campuses in recruiting candidates who would further their goals of creating a faculty with the ability and motivation to educate a diverse student body.
