Joanna Hull

Joanna Hull joined the California State University Office of General Counsel in September 2023 as a member of the Litigation Team. She also serves as a resource attorney for sovereign immunity, stop notices, EH&S and Campus Safety. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Joanna was a Supervising Deputy Attorney General at the California Office of the Attorney General in the Worker Rights and Fair Labor Section, providing leadership and oversight of complex civil litigation and investigations under California's Unfair Competition Law and employment laws. Before that, she served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Section in that office, where she focused on Unfair Competition Law litigation. Joanna also worked in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, first as an Assistant United States Attorney defending the federal government in employment and tort cases, and later as Chief of the Civil Division's Civil Rights Section, where she focused on enforcement of various federal civil rights laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act. Joanna began her career at the U.S. Department of Labor as an Honors Program attorney in Washington, D.C., where she handled federal appellate and trial litigation and developed expertise in federal wage and hour laws.
