Gaelle H. Gralnek joined the Office of General Counsel in December 2012. Her current primary responsibility as University Counsel is advising San José State University. Previously, she served in a similar role at San Diego State University and California State University, Fullerton. Gaelle previously served on the Office of General Counsel Litigation Team and was responsible for litigating a variety of systemwide and campus-based matters in state and federal courts. She is the Office of General Counsel's resource attorney for Advancement, NAGPRA/CalNAGPRA, and Tax. Prior to joining the CSU, Gaelle was a partner in a boutique litigation firm in Los Angeles where she represented small and midsize businesses and their owners in commercial disputes involving contract interpretation, employment, real estate, and partnership and corporate governance matters. After starting her legal career as an associate in the litigation department of O'Melveny & Myers, Gaelle spent more than 13 years with Ernst & Young LLP's General Counsel's Office, where she represented the firm and accounting professionals in its audit, tax and litigation support practices in federal and state court actions and administrative proceedings. While at Ernst & Young, Gaelle was trial counsel in a first-of-its-kind case involving accountants' liability for expert witness services.
