California is facing an array of challenges associated with the pandemic, climate change, demographic shifts, changes in the world of work, and the rate at which these changes are occurring. California needs 1.5 million more baccalaureate educated people by 2030 to maintain its innovation success.
Many adults are going back to school seeking a certificate or credential so they can remain in, progress in, or re-enter the workforce. Industries are eager to partner with the CSU to tell us what skills, dispositions, and knowledge are vital in their industry sectors.
The CSU Commission on Professional and Continuing Education (CPaCE) allows us to collectively embrace these realities, learn how!
“As Commissioners we have the opportunity to enable continuous education by building on the unique aspects of our university. We offer meaningful relationships to all our students through our faculty members, advisors, networks, and alumni organizations. Keeping our focus on education as a relationship sets us apart from all other knowledge and content providers. “Made in the CSU” can be a proud assertion across a career and a lifetime.”
-President Jane C. Conoley, Chair, CPaCE
CPaCE serves as an advisory group to the Chancellor and speaks to the issues and opportunities facing the professional and continuing education program units at each of the CSU's 23 campuses.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and urgent educational and employment needs, the Commission's priorities—degree completion, credit for prior learning and regional masters programs—have been expanded.

CSU PaCE units can expand and develop flexible degree and non-degree programs with Accelerator Grants, while the CPaCE Fellows program is designed to support CSU faculty and non-management staff members who work with PaCE.
Within our communities, we focus on sharing best practices, creating and retaining new knowledge to advance and support the goals and mission of CPaCE.

We celebrate the success of our adult learners—our CPaCE alumni—through all stages of the lifelong learning continuum, from education to employment to career advancement.
