Since its initial founding in 1958, the Michael D. Eisner College of Education has served the educational needs of the San Fernando Valley and surrounding Southern California communities by preparing quality educators, administrators, and counseling professionals. Fulfilling its mission to educate individuals who will serve the diverse needs of the region, the distinguished faculty create innovative curriculum for students and provide advanced professional development opportunities for those working in the field. The College leaves an indelible footprint in the surrounding area through faculty research, direct service delivery in the community, and partnerships with multiple school districts—all of which enrich the overall academic and cultural experience of the students within the College as well.
The Michael D. Eisner College of Education remains at the forefront of educational excellence by focusing the efforts of its faculty, students, and alumni on preparing future leaders who will serve local communities with academic and intellectual expertise and creativity. The College, as a professional school, promotes reflection, critical thinking, and quality in teaching through interdisciplinary studies in an inclusive learning community. Its graduates are well-educated individuals who view themselves as lifelong learners and who are prepared to practice in an ever changing, multicultural world. Graduates assume service and leadership roles in educational programs and institutions, health and social institutions, and public and private settings. The faculty is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and collaboration with the schools and community they serve.
