Murphy worked in the cycling industry for Raleigh USA, SR Sakae Tokyo, and lastly as Global Marketing Director for Specialized travelling and working in over 20 different countries in Europe, South America and Asia.
He returned to Modesto in 1996 to join the family logistics business that services the food industry in both ambient and frozen warehousing and distribution. The commitment to best in class food safety, efficiency and commitment to employees and customers allows Sierra Pacific to succeed.
Murphy brought his worldview back to Modesto and created ModestoView in 1997 to showcase the positive in the community where his goal is to “Serve Civic Pride Daily.” He has been a champion for local events and civic involvement, serving on the Gallo Center Board of Directors, Past President of the State Theatre, and past board member for Memorial Hospital.
Has been instrumental in raising exposure of the arts and expanding the cultural opportunities for the Modesto region. He is a champion of the recognition of Modesto as the Home of American Graffiti. He is the founder of the Modesto Historic Graffiti Cruise Route, Legends of the Cruise Walk of Fame, Modesto Rockin’ Holiday, the Modesto Music History Organization, co-founder of the Modesto Area Music Association and serves on the Downtown Modesto Partnership Board.
Honored in 2001 by the Modesto Chamber of Commerce for Distinguished Service and previously recognized by the American Frozen Foods Institute as Outstanding Member of the Year. In addition, Sierra Pacific was recognized in 2017 by the Modesto chamber as Member of the Year and was honored by the Modesto Bee in 2016 for Excellence in Service.
