Welteroth is an award-winning journalist, former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, and New York Times bestselling author. She currently serves as a judge for Bravo's Emmy-winning competition series “Project Runway." Through these roles, she has become a leading expert and advocate for the next generation of change-makers.
In 2019, she became a New York Times best-selling author for “More Than Enough: Claiming Space for Who You Are (No Matter What They Say)," an exploration of race, identity, power, ambition and love and a moving affirmation for anyone who's been told “no" and didn't listen.
In 2017, at age 29, Elaine Welteroth became editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, making her the youngest editor-in-chief—as well as only the second person of African American heritage in Condé Nast's 107-year history—to hold such a title.
While at the helm of Teen Vogue, she was credited for the notable increase in the coverage of politics and social justice, encouraging readers to become civically engaged, specifically during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Under Welteroth's leadership, the magazine also developed its YouTube channel, featuring content on diverse subjects.
Welteroth speaks at numerous conferences, such as the 2017 PATH 40-year celebration and the 2017 Women of Power Summit through Black Enterprise magazine. At these conferences, she has spoken on topics ranging from integrative technology and global health to activism and culture.
