Kim Estes has made his mark as an Emmy Award-winning actor in popular TV programs and film. His credits include “NCIS,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Private Practice,” “House,” “Dexter,” “Secrets and Lies,” “Cold Case,” “Criminal Minds,” “Numb3rs,” “The Unit,” “Rake,” and more.
Kim’s maritime career includes more than two decades at ARCO/BP, first sailing and achieving the rank of chief engineer. He managed fleet engineering and maintenance and the corporate environmental, health, safety, security and aviation group. He also helped shape industry policy as director of policy and assurance.
Kim is the principal at the Estes Group, a crisis management/emergency response and communication consultancy firm to the oil and gas, energy and maritime transportation industries. He has also functioned as a court appointed monitor and expert witness for the Department of Justice.
Kim volunteers his time at Cal Maritime events, serving as a frequent host of the California Maritime Academy Foundation Scholarship and Awards Gala, as a member of the Academy’s Industry Advisory Board and a past alumni board member.
Kim is shaping the next generation of leaders as a faculty member and mentor in Cal Maritime’s transportation and engineering management master’s program.
