Definitions

Probationary/Tenure Track Faculty – A faculty member serving in a position that will lead to tenure if they are successful during the probationary period.

Tenured Faculty – A faculty member who has been awarded tenure.

Instructional Faculty – Faculty members whose primary responsibility is teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.

Lecturers – A faculty member serving in an instructional non-tenure track temporary appointment, part-time or full-time.

Non-Instructional Faculty – Refers to coaches, counselors and librarians.

Compensation Benchmarking – The process of identifying market compensation survey sources and matching CSU jobs to the survey jobs to conduct a compensation gap analysis.

Department – Refers to the academic department or equivalent administrative unit.

Discipline​ – Refers to a field of study or a branch of knowledge, taught and researched at the university level.
