Chancellor García attended San Francisco State’s 2025 commencement ceremony on May 23, celebrating with outgoing Cal State Student Association President Iese Esera who graduated from the university that day.

On May 14, 2025, Chancellor García visited Sacramento to meet with Assemblymember​ Darshana Patel, as well as other state legislators, to discuss stopping budget cuts to the CSU and supporting higher education.

Chancellor García and fellow members of the Sonoma State Presidential Search Committee toured the campus and held an Open Forum for the campus community to voice their priorities for the next SSU president on May 5, 2025

On April 23, 2025, Chancellor García joined over 200 other leaders in education and spoke on a panel at the 2025 ETS Convening, which focused on measuring future readiness and preparing students for their careers.

As Hill Week came to a close, Chancellor García, CSU leaders and students, hill staff and members of Congress celebrated their advocacy efforts during the CSU Congressional Reception on April 10, 2025.

From April 8-10, 2025, Chancellor García visited Washington for CSU Hill Week during which she and a delegation of CSU leaders, students and alumni met with legislators to advocate for the needs of college students and communicate the CSU’s top federal priorities.

As part of CSU Hill Week events in Washington April 8-10, Chancellor García and CSU leaders met with U.S. Senators and CSU supporters Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff to discuss the federal landscape with regard to higher education.

Chancellor García met with California Governor Gavin Newsom in March 2025 in Sacramento to discuss their shared commitment to the CSU, its 460,000 students and how the CSU fuels California’s workforce.

Chancellor García and CSU presidents, leaders and advocates met with California state legislators in Sacramento for Advocacy Day on March 18-19, 2025, to advocate on behalf of the university.

Alongside other speakers, Chancellor García hailed the CSU as “a strong and stabilizing force for good” during her address at the 2025 National Social Mobility Symposium hosted by CSU San Marcos February 20-21, 2025.

In Washington, D.C. on February 11, 2025, Chancellor García spent the day meeting with congressional leaders, including Representative Judy Chu, to discuss the importance of federal investments to support students in California public higher education.

Chancellor García attended a press conference at San José State announcing a first-of-its-kind initiative to leverage AI in higher education along with SJSU President Cynthia Teniente-Matson, CSU CIO Ed Clark and others on February 4, 2025.

On January 14-15, Chancellor García met with CSU alumni recently elected to the state legislature who are shaping California’s future through their leadership, including CSU Dominguez Hills alumnus José Luis Solache, Jr.

At an “Advancing Economic Mobility” convening on December 15, 2024, Chancellor García gave an interview for the Aspen Institute’s Women Trailblazers series coming out in March 2025.

Chancellor García served as a plenary speaker at the 2024 AASCU Annual Conference for Presidents and Chancellors, held in Puerto Rico November 16-19, 2024.

To coordinate on supporting transfer students, Chancellor García joined CCC Chancellor Sonya Christian and UC President Michael Drake at the inaugural Strategic Transfer Summit held at UC Merced on November 8, 2024.

“Building for Equity” was the theme of the CSU’s 2024 Graduation Initiative Symposium held in Los Angeles October 28-30, at which Chancellor García participated.

Chancellor García joined President Biden and others at the White House on October 29, 2024, for the ceremonial signing of an executive order that will strengthen the capacity of Hispanic-Serving Institutions to provide a high-quality education.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Chancellor García and HHS Assistant Secretary for Administration Cheryl R. Campbell signed an MOU on October 22, 2024, to collaborate on channeling students to work in federal health roles.

At Cal Poly Humboldt for the presidential search open forum on October 10, 2024, Chancellor García visited with students and alumni including Dakota (left) and José Juan (right).

At CSU Bakersfield’s inaugural Chavez Huerta Leadership Conference on October 3, 2024, Chancellor García was honored with a Trailblazer Award. García is the first Latina to lead any four-year university system in the nation.

Chancellor García lauded Cal State LA alumna Billie Jean King during a ceremony to unveil a statue on the campus in King’s honor held on October 2, 2024, calling her “a true hero, a champion and forever a Golden Eagle.”

In India for a conference on international education (IC3) August 28-29, 2024, Chancellor García met with U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti to discuss expanding opportunities for students.

“Sac State is exemplifying what we can do across the CSU,” Chancellor García said during a celebration of the inaugural class of Sacramento State’s Black Honors College August 8, 2024.

Chancellor García attended the CSU’s Juneteenth Symposium June 13-14, 2024, which highlighted the progress made to elevate Black student success and the work still to be done.

Chancellor García and California State Fire Marshal Daniel Berlant signed a memorandum of understanding between the CSU and CAL FIRE at the Chancellor’s Office May 17, 2024.

On April 30, 2024, Chancellor García met with Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh in Sacramento to discuss CSU’s priorities and how each of the 23 universities can support the state’s workforce.

Chancellor García attended a CSU Alumni and Congressional Community event in Washington, D.C. April 10, 2024, with about 300 CSU alumni and leaders and congressional members.

While in Washington, D.C. for CSU Hill Day, Chancellor García attended a lunch April 10, 2024, with members of the California congressional delegation.

As part of CSU Hill Day events, university leaders met with federal legislators including U.S. Representative Ted Lieu April 9-11, 2024, to seek more support for college students.

“Help them believe, then show them the road to get there.” — Chancellor García discussed with Chronicle of Higher Education reporters how colleges should provide a clear path to college, especially for underrepresented groups.

In a special livestreamed event at CSU Channel Islands April 2, 2024, Chancellor García and Board of Trustees Chair Wenda Fong shared their leadership journeys with students.

The California Legislative Women’s Caucus honored Chancellor García as a HERstory Maker during Women’s History Month commemorations on the Assembly and Senate floors March 12, 2024.

Recognizing her unwavering support for the university, Chancellor García honored California State Senator Toni Atkins with the CSU Champion Award March 14, 2024.
