The Office of Research Initiatives and Partnerships contributes system-wide support and promotion for California State University (CSU) research, scholarship, and creative activities, research infrastructure and research compliance issues, inter-segmental partnerships, and initiatives related to economic and workforce development. The Office fosters and seeks out external support for mission-related initiatives and partnerships that are CSU system-wide and/or which may involve multiple campuses, including support from federal and state government and private foundations. The Office works in collaboration with the Chancellor's Office Division of Business and Finance on issues relating to research compliance, sponsored programs, government relations, and advancement
CSU faculty, often in collaboration with students, conduct substantial research, scholarship, and creative activities in support of the CSU undergraduate and graduate instructional mission. Much of the research conducted at the CSU is highly applied, focused on community needs, and constitutes an important driver for curriculum renewal and innovation. The wide scope and high quality of CSU research and creative activities stand as evidence of the excellence and vitality of the faculty, and as markers of the breadth of the CSU's contributions to the education, workforce development, and economy of California.
