California State University Board of Trustees Appoints External Group to Advise Special Chancellor Selection Committee

(September 25, 2012) – An external group of CSU stakeholders has been appointed by the chair of the CSU Board of Trustees to advise the board and the Special Committee for the Selection of the Chancellor when they meet in closed session on October 3 to review candidates.  The stakeholders include:

  • Diana Guerin – Academic Senate Chair
  • James Postma – Past Academic Senate Chair
  • David Allison – Student, CSUSB, president, California State Student Association
  • Guy Heston – Alumni Council Chair
  • Millie Garcia – President, CSU Fullerton
  • Jim Rosser – President CSU Los Angeles
  • Herb Carter – Former CSU Trustee
  • Vonetta Augustine – Staff, CSU Long Beach

The Special Committee for the Selection of the Chancellor will meet in a morning session from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The external group of CSU stakeholders, who are subject to the closed session requirements, will be included in the morning session.  The full board will convene from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in closed session.

CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed announced his retirement on May 24 following a 14-year tenure with the university system, and said he will remain until the board selects the next chancellor.
