Recently, Troops to College highlighted San Francisco State student-veterans at the Infineon Raceway Indy Car Grand Prix.  Recognized students included Ana-Marie Urbieta, family consumer sciences major; Andrew Lineham, business major; and Imelda Ved, business major.  Ubierta served with the U.S. Army, while both Lineham and Ved served with the U.S. Navy.

Bucky Peterson, chair of California Troops to College, introduced the students to the 40,000 fans at the track and a national television audience.  Peterson retired from the military after a distinguished three-decade career as a U.S. Marine officer.  Peterson has helped shape Troops to College into a collaborative partnership of higher education, government and military leaders with a combined focus of educating veterans about their college benefits and helping smooth the transition from military service to civilian careers.
