As senior vice president of continuum and clinical operations for Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Hawaii, Patricia (Patti) Clausen, RN, has a leadership role focused on supporting Utilization Management, Continuum Services, Behavioral Health, Medicare and Medi-Cal models, Care at Home, and Pharmacy. Created in October of 2023, this regional leadership role is part of our organization’s transformative journey to elevate operations to the next level of excellence, as our members and mission demand and deserve.

Previously, Patti was senior vice president and area manager for the Kaiser Permanente Panorama City and Antelope Valley service areas, a role she assumed in July 2021. With over 24 years of progressive health care leadership experience, Patti led one of our market’s largest geographic areas while facing the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Patti’s leadership was instrumental in her team achieving the very prestigious Magnet® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center® Magnet Recognition Program.

Before her role in Panorama City, Patti was the chief nurse executive at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. During her leadership, she fostered an environment of providing superior care for both patients and members and promoted a culture of safety across the medical center. Her experience also includes serving as chief nurse executive for Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center.

Prior to Kaiser Permanente, Patti was the nurse executive for Swedish Medical Center-Cherry Hill, located in Seattle. In the role, she was responsible for professional nursing practice and all other clinical services, including respiratory, pharmacy, imaging services, deep brain stimulation, telestroke, neurophysiology/vascular ultrasound, and case management. Other health care leadership experience includes chief nursing officer for Tenet Healthcare in Dallas, chief nursing officer for Community Mission Hospital of Huntington Park, and director of medical, surgical, telemetry services for Western Medical Center in Anaheim.

Patti holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from California State University, Long Beach, and completed her Master of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix. She completed Harvard Business School's Executive Leadership Program.
