Adding to the number of nontraditional medical school applicants gives me great pride.

Johnathan Rodney enlisted in the Navy after high school and served as a hospital corpsman, where he found his passion for health care. He eventually became a shift leader at Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms. He is now a senior at CSU San Marcos majoring in biochemistry, where he serves as the president of the Student Veterans Organization and coordinates volunteer days at Ivey Ranch, a nonprofit organization that works with children with disabilities and veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder.

Johnathan plans to attend medical school with a focus on primary care. He hopes to continue working with veterans and other underserved patients in Southern California.
