Alexandra Martin

California State University, Los Angeles
Stauffer Foundation Scholar

I aspire to bring peace, acceptance and acknowledgement to situations that feel traditionally hopeless, isolating and desperate.

On her path to success, Alexandra Martin has overcome poverty and family tragedy. She and her identical twin left their dysfunctional home as teenagers. Sadly, her sister later struggled with addiction and died of an overdose. Alexandra has resolved, in the classroom and in the field, to channel this trauma into a commitment to serving others.

Alexandra is an outstanding scholar and student leader at Cal State LA, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA in the three-year traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. As a member of the Class of 2023, she serves as co-president of her student cohort in the Patricia A. Chin School of Nursing. With compassionate community service as her goal, Alexandra has volunteered at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and an urban farm dedicated to food justice and education.

After graduating, she plans to pursue her master's degree and become a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
