Shayne Sines
I have learned from my life experience that it's never too late to turn your life around, and I believe that I will be able to share this attitude with my future students.

Shayne Sines grew up in a single-parent household with a family history of drug use. He has overcome addiction and homelessness to become a promising Humboldt State University student. As someone who is active in a 12-step recovery program, Shayne knows firsthand it is possible to turn one's life around and become an asset to the community.

Shayne recently graduated summa cum laude in liberal studies and elementary education at Humboldt State University and became the first in his family to earn a bachelor's degree. He feels most rewarded when empowering others to learn. As a member of the Student California Teachers Association chapter at Humboldt State, Shayne volunteers as a tutor for disadvantaged children through the county's juvenile corrections program. Shayne is especially dedicated to teaching science and math and is a frequent participant at education conferences.

Shayne plans to pursue special education credentials for severe and moderate disabilities, along with single and multiple-subject credentials.
