Under the influence of drugs, LaTangia Oliver’s parents often arrived at her grade school and caused scenes, which were traumatic and embarrassing for LaTangia and her sister. She and her sister were taken in by their great-aunt, who raised them as a single parent along with her own children, and taught them strong moral standards.

Graduating from high school with academic and athletic honors, LaTangia attended CSU Fullerton as a Guardian Scholar. She was a founding member and president of Zeta Phi Beta sorority and competed on the women’s track and field team. After completing her bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism in 2006, LaTangia enlisted in the Army National Guard and graduated from an online MBA program. She is currently enrolled at CSU Dominguez Hills in the negotiation, conflict resolution and peace building graduate program.

After completing her master’s degree, LaTangia plans to go to law school so that she can fulfill her aspiration to become a judge advocate general (JAG) officer.
