Natalie Holmberg-Douglas
Success would not be handed to me on a silver platter—my future accomplishments were entirely in my own hands.

Natalie Holmberg-Douglas grew up in a rural setting with an ideal childhood until her family was thrown into crisis. During Natalie's teenage years, her family struggled through the loss of income and insurance, health problems, addiction and mental instability. She did not allow these overwhelming factors to pull her down. Instead, she decided to work harder. Natalie supported her family while finding the strength to pursue her education, make a difference in her community and become a leader among her peers.

Today, Natalie is a senior at California State University, Chico double majoring in biochemistry and animal science. She maintains a 3.8 GPA while being involved in both the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Agriculture through committees, clubs, conferences, tutoring and mentoring. After graduating, she plans to attend veterinary school and become a large animal veterinarian who inspires a love of science in others.
