Selection Process

The process for selecting VISTA members is part of an ongoing conversation you will have with members of the VISTA leadership team. Each stage in the process is an opportunity to learn more about the program and for the VISTA team to get to know you.

STAGE 1: SUBMIT YOUR MATERIALS
We accept and review application materials on a rolling basis from March through mid-May. VISTA positions are filled on a first come, first serve basis; therefore, we encourage you to submit as early as possible. Required application materials include a resume, online AmeriCorps application, and candidate questionnaire. Once all materials are received, completed applications are reviewed by the VISTA leadership team every Monday.

STAGE 2: INITIAL VIRTUAL INTERVIEW
Candidates who meet the program qualifications will be invited to participate in an initial interview between March and May with a VISTA leader via Zoom conferencing. This interview will be focused on learning more about your professional and personal goals. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the program and available positions.

STAGE 3: FINAL VIRTUAL INTERVIEW
If you are invited to continue in the selection process, you will participate in a final interview during April or May with the VISTA program manager via Zoom video conferencing. VISTA members do not interview with the campus teams.

STAGE 4: MATCHING
After your final interview, the VISTA leadership team will proceed with the matching process. We match candidates with a VISTA position based on your interests, knowledge, and skills as well as the needs of each project.

STAGE 5: START SERVICE
All VISTA members start service at their matched campus on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. This date is not negotiable.
