Host a CSU STEM VISTA Member

To support the goals of Graduation Initiative 2025, the CSU STEM VISTA program is seeking CSU campus partners for the 2024-24 program year (July 2024 - July 2025) to bolster STEM student success through the expansion of integrative learning strategies, as well as campus, organizational and school partnerships dedicated to eliminating race, class and gender disparities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) undergraduate degree programs, and PK-12 student access to highly qualified, well-prepared, and diverse STEM teachers.

The CSU STEM VISTA program is unique in that we do not provide grant funding but a full-time position to work in campus departments and programs for one year. We hire outstanding AmeriCorps VISTA members (traditionally recent college graduates or career transitioners) who can help you develop, implement, or expand programs and services for STEM students. During the past 10 years, VISTA members have gathered student voices to inform program design, created and implemented marketing and outreach plans, developed, and facilitated success workshops, and conducted program and event evaluations. Examples of some offices VISTAs have been placed with include STEM Colleges/Departments/Institutes, Cultural and DREAM Centers, Offices of Undergraduate Research and Community Engagement.

2024-25 Priority Areas:
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Degree Programs
Projects focused on STEM or STEAM programs that are pathways for students who are historically or currently underrepresented in STEM fields by providing opportunities in career exploration and preparation, early exposure to fieldwork, internships, service-learning, undergraduate research, and international study.
  • STEM Teacher Credential Students or Retention of High School STEM Teachers
Projects focused on PK-12 teacher education programs dedicated to preparing future teachers who are historically or currently underrepresented in STEM teacher credential programs and/or projects focused on retention of STEM teachers in schools and districts, including those that intentionally incorporate arts integrative learning into STEM teacher professional development, and STEAM programming and activities focused on increasing PK-12 students' exposure to STEM or STEM higher education and career opportunities.
Multiple proposals from the same CSU campus are allowed.
