Steven Lee Yamshon

Steven Lee Yamshon has exhibited all of the valuable qualities of a dedicated alumnus of the university. Since he was a student, he has generously and continuously given of his talents, influence, expertise and caring for the betterment of California State University, Sacramento.
A 1977 honors graduate in environmental studies from CSUS, he has continued his academic life through writing, teaching, and advanced academic programs. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Redlands, and a master's degree from UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management. His postgraduate work was at Harvard's Graduate School of Business and he is published in his field. He is a visiting scholar at UCLA and currently teaches in his areas of expertise, finance and international business.
Throughout his busy career he has worked assiduously to enhance the quality of the educational experience at CSUS. He has remained extremely active in alumni relations throughout the years and was the first convener of the Alumni Association's Executives and Senior Professionals Network in Orange County. For his extraordinary service and lifetime achievements, he has been recognized with the university's Distinguished Service Award and the Order of the Hornet.
A dedicated benefactor of the university, Mr. Yamshon has significantly contributed to many activities of the campus, including as a participant in key academic conferences. He has lent significant financial support for numerous projects, including the Japanese American collection endowment, the university's 50th anniversary Capital Campaign, funds for the refurbishment of the Alumni Grove, which he helped to found as a student and as a major donor for the CSUS Alumni Center, which will bear his name.
In recognition of his outstanding and meritorious service and dedication, the Board of Trustees of the California State University and California State University, Sacramento are proud to confer upon Steven Lee Yamshon the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
