The California State University is comprised of the Office of the Chancellor, 23 campuses and seven off-campus centers. In addition to the chancellor, guidance for the university is drawn from the Board of Trustees, presidents and senior leadership.

The Board of Trustees proposes and adopts regulations and policies governing the entire university.
Providing leadership, direction and structure, the 23 CSU presidents also serve as the primary liaison between their campuses and the communities they serve.
These organizations help meet the needs of CSU faculty and students through advocacy, resource provision, fundraising and more.
