CDIP helps doctoral students turn their faculty aspirations into reality through CSU faculty mentorship, professional development, and financial assistance. Each of the applicants selected will be designated as a CDIP Fellow and collaborate with their CSU faculty mentor to complement the doctoral studies with activities that prepare them for a rewarding career in the CSU or institutions similarly focused on student success.

CSU Faculty Mentorship from a tenured or tenure track faculty who provide guidance on what it means to be a teacher-scholar in the CSU.

Professional Development for fellows to prepare for an academic career as faculty in the CSU. For example, monthly webinars featuring CSU faculty who share practical insights on the teaching-scholar model, balancing research and teaching, and navigating promotion and tenure. Complementing these monthly sessions, there are brief, skill-focused workshops on writing teaching statements, cover letters, teaching tips, and other essentials for future faculty.

Access to internal grants and awards. Once accepted into the program, Fellows have access to internal grants and awards.

Doctoral Education Support Grant (up to $2500 each year). Development Funds for academic and professional development (e.g., student membership in professional organizations, subscriptions to academic journals, and the cost of minor research materials).
- Conference Travel Award (up to $1500 twice a year). Conference Travel Awards cover organization membership, conference registration, lodging, and airfare. CSU Faculty Mentors may also be eligible for $1500 of conference travel when presenting with their CDIP Fellow.

Dissertation Award (up to $5000 one time). This internal award is for CDIP fellows who are in the final year of their dissertation writing stage.

Optional Loan that is forgivable if the CDIP Fellow has an instructional faculty position in the CSU system.
