The Role of California State University Faculty
CSU tenured or tenure track faculty members serve as mentors. CSU faculty members are an integral component of this program as they work closely with applicants to prepare a Collaborative Plan of Support that is tailored to the specific goals and career objectives of the doctoral student with the goal of focusing on a plan that leads to a faculty career.
For many faculty, mentorship continues beyond the program. Alumni frequently remain in contact with their mentors for career advice, recommendation letters, and professional collaboration. Faculty who mentor Fellows also gain valuable experience in student development, research supervision, and cross-campus engagement.
By mentoring a CDIP Fellow, CSU faculty contribute directly to the university's mission of expanding educational opportunity and advancing academic excellence preparing future faculty who seek to inspire and engage with diverse students through teaching and research.
