Title 5 Notice

The following are changes proposed to Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.

TITLE 5. TRUSTEES OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees of the California State University proposes to amend Section 40408 of Article 5, Subchapter 2, Chapter 1, Division 5 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.

A public hearing concerning the proposed change will be held commencing at 9:00 a.m. on September 14, 2021, or as soon thereafter as the business of the Board will permit. Any person interested may present statements orally or in writing relevant to the proposed action at that hearing. Written comments must be received by close of business on September 13, 2021, addressed to Alison Wrynn, Associate Vice Chancellor, Academic Programs, Innovations and Faculty Development, Office of the Chancellor, 401 Golden Shore, Long Beach, California 90802-4210. Because of applicable health and safety mandates and efforts to reduce risks related to COVID-19, this meeting will be held virtually and will be live streamed through the calstate.edu website. Persons interested in making oral comments regarding this Title 5 action must contact the Trustee Secretariat at trusteesecretariat@calstate.edu​ and request to be put on the speaker’s list.

INFORMATIVE DIGEST

Responding to Education Code sections 66600, 89030 and 89035, this item proposes amending Title 5 Section 40408 to modify Credit Based on Examination to include additional prior learning assessment methodologies that may result in credit for prior learning for both undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

COST TO STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS

The adoption of the proposed amendment will not impose a cost or savings on any state agency; will not impose a cost or savings on any local agency or school district that is required to be reimbursed under Section 17561 of the Government Code; will not result in any nondiscretionary cost or savings to local agencies; will not result in any cost or savings in federal funding to the state; and will not impose a mandate on local agencies or school districts.
