John Walsh joined the California State University Office of General Counsel in January 2018 and is University Counsel for California State University, Fresno. He previously served in a similar role at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He also serves as a resource attorney for bonds, financing, athletics, and advancement. Prior to joining the CSU, John worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District, first as an attorney in the Office of General Counsel and then as the District's Deputy Chief Financial Officer. His areas of responsibility included budget, audits, risk management and financial reporting, debt issuance and treasury, civil rights and student issues, the Magnet program, and government relations. Before L.A. Unified, John practiced law with Best, Best & Krieger, where he specialized in the representation of colleges, school districts and other public entities.
